My mom has been going crabbing with a friend the past few weekends on the Chester river and every time I kept telling her look for points while your out there if you get a chance .... she found a killer point the pic she sent me did this thing no justice at all it wasn’t until I saw it today I realized how huge it was especially for around here .... she ran back or to boat to grab her phone and when she walked back up found another one 4 feet from the first. I was happy for her it’s been a while since she’s found one and it’s a smoker.

That's quite a find. Congrats. There was a guy on another artifact forum from the Eastern Seaboard area that was finding large, stemmed points like that and he was calling them Mack points. I can find no documentation on that type so just for what it's worth. I was thinking Gary or Morrow Mountain.

I’m not familiar with Mack points either I was kinda leaning towards Morrow Mountain myself ... Gary is a little too far west to be found here but very similar characteristics

No , not from the shore they run a trot line but they take some breaks and go a shore ... drink a beer , relax... that type of crabbing lol

Huge for sure. Here in Maryland we call most of them Morrow Mountain points.

lol .... yeah but she’s surely earned it ... 5 kids including me and we were all Hellions and my dad that went from a motorcycle gang being a Pagan to being a preacher .... true story , so I tell her do whatever makes you happy cause you have put 6 other people ahead of you for way too long so do you !

Trot-lining crabs is the most enjoyable and relaxing way to catch them. Trot-line crabs are also recognized by some of us as higher quality crabs than those caught in crab pots. Good for her!
