I spent a little time down that way back about 15 years ago volunteering with the Red Cross after a hurricane/flood. We were north of Houston in a small town called New Caney. There were spots in Humble (silent H) where the water was 12 feet high. Terrible. I hate floods.

Anyway we had one day off in about 2 weeks and a couple of us headed for Galveston. Nice place. Houston is where I was introduced to crawfish. Ummmmm Ummmm... good.

I was promised a trip to Galveston but, I watched my friends mother( she was ill), so they could take their grand daughter (she's 6) to the beach there. I hear its beautiful there. Maybe I will go back there one day.
I was in Texas just after Katrina? Everything was such a mess. $:-\$ I have pics somewhere.

Crawfish...Yummy. I first tried it at my friends resturant in Texas, I found it delicious, first time I had ever tried it. I also had oysters & biscuits(not together though ) for the first time there too. Although biscuits taste far better from Biscuitville, so yummy but SO fattening. Why is all the delicious food fattening.

Liked those pictures Molly. If you think the humidity is bad there, you should try south Louisiana. Looks like you had a good time.

Thanks John, I was in South texas. I did go to Louisiana a few times. First time I had ever been to a casino, Isle of Capri,
My friends laughed at me because alls I took was $20. ::)

But i aint no gambler. Still, I came out with $100

Btw. Its snowing here in NC/VA. 'sigh' NO hunting Arrows today.

Molly,
Some of the best eating in the USA is in Texas. I sometimes wish I had stayed, but these Tennessee Hills just set in your bones.

Hi Capt, I'm just lucky when it comes to gambling. I have always been lucky in life. I guess I just have IT, whatever that is.. :icon_scratch:

I once won a fair amount of money at pool too. The team where short, they asked me to play thinking I wouldn't get very far. They play "killer" first time you miss a shot you are out. about 10 ppl play. Now these guys play every week, some 3 times a week, they are darn good. Well I won them ALL..the money too.

Beginners luck.

Nice pictures Molly! My daughter has lived in Houston for 20 years and although she has sent monster truck pictures, I have never seen the shots that you have taken of the monument and ship. Very nice pics!
