More Colonial silver , copper & relic finds !!

5-15 -11 :icon_sunny: Saturday and Sunday hunts back to back to the same old colonial cellar hole , where the crumb / salt spoon & rat tail spoon ,1788 Jersey copper , 1757 Six pence silver were recovered . http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,399325.0.html Thought the first dig was a real 45 cal but not the case . ::) Early G Man badge , and a 1907 Indian cent .. Sunday ...where the sixpence was found .... spent hours diggin ' through broken bricks , junk , more junk , buckle pieces , DB brass bridal rosette , Parkes coffee pin , square nails , iron chunks of stoves and barrel straps , chards , more red brick :P every shovelful hit these pieces of red brick . Pain in the you know what !! Best find of the weekend is , a giant signal that screamed , COIN :o 1780 Maria Theresa Thaler trade dollar .These trade silvers were used in the colonies till mid 1800's , still made today with 1780 date ..worn date KG I Hibernia , ended the hunt with a pewter handle and flat buttons . I like this place but it will soon be overgrown with unbearable jigger bush . . Thanks for stopping in and the heat is on , Good Day :icon_sunny: 8) P.S. Memorial Day will soon be here , :occasion17: As we pause to give thanks this Memorial Day for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice – for keeping the Union intact, for our freedoms, to extend that umbrella of freedom to others – freeing them from tyranny and oppression, let us give thanks and always remember. :icon_salut: CMDdawg

They're actually made pretty much right up to today. You would have to ID the variety to give the age. Could be 200 years old, could be 20.

Very popular and a highly minted coin, but this is the first I have seen posted.

Re: More Colonial silver , copper & relic finds !!

Assuming it was period minted, it seems to have an awful amount of detail to before it could've been circulating TOO long  to me at least
Great stuff

Re: More Colonial silver , copper & relic finds !!

Stun me again :o
Another super batch of well deserved digs
Any one of those would make my month!
That 'Thaler/Dollar' is spectacular !
I found this quote and quite agree:
"they have often been described as one of the world's most beautiful coins."
Maybe get verification as an 18th century
variety & up top where it belongs

Re: More Colonial silver , copper & relic finds !!

Dawg, I have never seen one of those trade dollars. I doubt there are many in the grouns here in Tennessee. Great finds Dawg. It's not the old mill site but it looks very productive. A little Roundup may help hunting conditions there-LOL. HH, Quindy.

Re: More Colonial silver , copper & relic finds !!

Wait a second now! I see two NJ Jersey coppers there that you don't even mention or show individual close ups of. And you even live in New Jersey :laughing7: :laughing7:

Very nice finds there, and quite a variety too. That Thaler is really cool. Hope it turns out to be an early varient.

Re: More Colonial silver , copper & relic finds !!

Im drooling. Really sweet finds. Thanks for posting

Re: More Colonial silver , copper & relic finds !!

Sweet finds for sure! By the look of the bricks and from what I can see from the site, could it have been a privy?

Leave some of those NJ coppers behind for me! It seems everyone I detect with has dug one but me!
