More sidewalk tearouts...More Seated coins.

I came across this sidewalk tearout today in a park where many old coins have been found in the past. As soon as I saw it I figured it would be good because the original sidewalk was very old and not likely to have a lot of gravel under the cement. There was about 2 to 3 inches of sand and then black dirt. The coins were in the black dirt about 1 to 2 inches deep.

Silvery sweet finds there, BK!

Are you all done with that spot or are you gonna mine some more out of there?

I figure that by next weekend there will be new cement there. I may have to go back though just to see if they plan to take out any more.

When they do sidewalk tearouts here they do about 25 ft sections. Were those the old sandstone sidewalks?

Isn't it amazing to think that those coins you just dug up were lost over 100 years ago? They were accidentally dropped and forgotten by some random person before your father, maybe even grandfather was even born. Amazing!
