I came across this sidewalk tearout today in a park where many old coins have been found in the past. As soon as I saw it I figured it would be good because the original sidewalk was very old and not likely to have a lot of gravel under the cement. There was about 2 to 3 inches of sand and then black dirt. The coins were in the black dirt about 1 to 2 inches deep.

They look like they're in great shape after being under the sidewalks, better than coins pulled out of the ground anyway. Congrats on the nice finds.

What a beautiful site to behold. All that sidewalk tore up along all those old trees. What more could a guy ask for? Congrats on those beautiful pieces of old silver and the Indian head cents.I hope you can get a decent amount of hunt time in before they pave it all over.I've found that some of the best preserved coins come from sidewalk tareups.
Best of luck to you and HH!

Those are some nice coins ! good luck on your return visits! WTG
