Hi Guys and Gals, I'm new here. I found these last week while hunting a park in a small town in Virginia. There was a hospital there during the Civil War. The Gilted Eagle Button is a Confederate Staff Officers Button with a Dowler Superior Quality Backmark. It books at $1,375.00. Mine has a dent on the lower half, and corosion on the back. The other Eagle button is a Yankee Infantry Button. I need help with the W.U. Button. Backmark is Browning King. The coin is a 1853 Silver 3 Cent piece in great condition. The two pieces of Silver were cufflinks or collarpins?

That would be IF it were in pristine condition with all Gold gilt still present, no dents, and no corrosion, etc. whatsoever. Basically- if it looked brand new.

Still a nice find though!

Yes that's why I noted mine is dented and coroded, but still has a surprising amount of gilt. It's priceless to me, knowing it came off a Confederate Officer's uniform. I love the history aspect of the stuff we find with our hobby (obsession). There's always a story behind how that object wound up where you found it. I don't sell my finds, I keep everything except the clad.

HEY DIRTFISHING.IF ITS PRICELESS 2 YOU THEN THATS ALL THAT MATTERS.NICE FIND. BUD.

One interesting thing about the buttons, the Confederate Staff, and the Yankee Infantry Button were within five feet of eachother. There was a .52 caliber bullet in between the two buttons. I envisioned the CS Officer dispatching the Yankee with his Sword, but not before the Yank got off a shot dropping the Officer. Both Silver cuffs and the 1853 3 Cent were found in the same area. I found handfuls of Indian pennies, wheats, a few Buff Nickels, Silver Quarters, Barber Dimes, tons of wheats, etc. I was so excited about the CW items I was finding, that I got bummed when it was "just another Indian Penny"
