Metal Detecting
Hey guys I went back to the 18th century house that I use to detect very often until I began to wear out my welcome. This is the place where I found lots of Spanish silver and my Louisiana Pelican button. So I haven?t been there in a while, but we had talked about when he knocks down the white extension they made in the late 1800s I could metal detect it. So it?s been a couple of months and I did a drive-by and I saw the white extension gone. So I began wishing him every holiday I would send him a text Happy Father?s Day, Happy Easter, Happy Fourth of July I guess I warm down and he said I can come today and just today I told him no problem and off I went. Well he said today I could come detect it today, but it?s a one day ordeal because he knew I would show up twice a week literally. Yeah so I have no shame in my game. This house has old New Orleans written all over it. When I got there I realize there was a lot of bricks laying all over from a chimney and square nails out the wazoo and boy was it humid today I was literally drenched in the first hour, but this is what I got.

I found a button which was in a clump of mud and I like to leave it that way so it keeps me in suspense of what it could be, so I got home jumped in the shower and took a hour nap and then I started cleaning it. I looked online and this is what it said,
?Rare button! Folger and Blake furnished clothing to the Soldiers in La. The company went out in business in 1862. Superior Quality backmark. Has a nice brown patina worn by La Confederate soldiers, one was found in Virginia but not many of these have been found!? image-2021-07-08-18:32:48-305.webp

My aunt lived in Metairie. Soooo hot down there. I liked the little lizards everywhere though. I'm hiding in the AC right now, and most days. I haven't even been to the beach to detect yet.

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!!

There?s my boy E-Trac how are you been buddy I got the worst case of swamp butt Yesterday it was crazy. I know the pictures came out weird but it is such a beautiful house they?re rebuilding Thank God if it was anybody else they would had knocked it down and built something else because It?s going to take a little over $1 million to restore I spoke with the selling agent and she was so happy these people aren?t doing that.

Awesome finds Truth, congrats and thanks for showing the house, very cool property!

Truth, awesome job!!! I love the heat.. it helps sweat out the beers I had the day before :laughing7: Love the condition of the items too! Congrats!!

Cool Button. This advertisement appeared in the Times Picayune on October 22, 1844. You may have a slave button! Not as good as a slave tag, but still interesting.

The glasses fill with the dripping sweat so they get tossed aside. Then the salty sweat stings the eyes. Staggering around blindly, only a matter of time before stepping on the glasses...

That's a really nice button and I love the look of that old house. There's got to be a privy somewhere out back to dig when it gets into cooler weather.

Hey Hunk-a-lead like I said he told me I could do that one spot underneath the white wood extension part it was hard to detect because of all the iron and bricks were all over the place. I?m gonna keep working on without pissing them off it?s gonna take a little time. This is where I found my Louisiana pelican button plenty of Spanish silver and I have a beautiful mint condition half reales. I also have found plenty of half capped Dimes it?s an amazing place and I also left an opening when I told him when they move that mud to push all those Brakes and everything I want to check those spoils he didn?t say anything but I planted it in his head

Wow Steve you just tripped me out the owner told me that?s where the slaves lived. This added a whole other level. Steve where did you find this info? I can?t believe that and that?s what he called the slave quarters. He said it was the last time I could metal detect because he built his father a house there and he didn?t like me there all the time but I had a good rapport with them yesterday so hopefully he?ll lighten up. Again thank you for showing me that I actually love it more now if it?s true that would be the closest to a slave tag you you can you get.

Yeah I just bought a 6 inch probe the problem as of right now is and Metal Detecting a war out my welcome and his father moved on the property they build their parents a house and the old guy is kind of ornery. I got to figure out how I can get back in there
