Hi, im new to this website and fairly new to coin collecting(about a year) i have found a few gems at the bank but in loose coins the tellers had, so after reading some of the posts on this website i tried for the box thing. So i went to Bank atlantic today, only bank in my area open on sunday, I tried to buy a box of quarters, dimes and pennies but they only had a box of dimes available, which i thought was odd, im sure they have boxes of all nominations in the back, but anyway got a box of brinks dimes in clear plastics so i didnt even have to open them up, me and my son looked thru them and the only thing we found was a peru centimo penny, NO SILVER :( so i'll be returning this box tomorow and see if i can swap it for another or do you think i should seperate the box and dump a few here and there? whats your thoughts? Luckily i have about 30 banks in a 5 square mile radius... Any tips or advice would absolutely be appreciated. Thanks

I don't know, but there is a coin roll hunting forum on this site. You might get more responses if you move it over there.

Good luck and welcome!!!

when i was into CRH, i would pick up a box at one bank and deposit it at another and ask for bills and do it back and forth from different banks. make one your pickup bank and one your dropoff bank. That way they are not getting mad at you and asking you what you are doing. Be careful some banks have fees. Bank of america put a fee on everything so i stopped banking with them and BECU does not do coin boxes. Thats just my tip.

Roll hunting can be fun, but honestly, after gas costs and time spent, it's usually cheaper to just buy your collectible coins.

All the best to you as you have fun with this great hobby!

I agree if your looking for collectible coins its best to just seek out the ones you want specifically and get the best prices you can for them at home online. There is a big but coming don't worry…

BUT… heres something to think about…
Recession + Holiday spending season = grandpas coin stash being looted (sometimes people don't even check old rolls they find they just see 10 dollars on the half dollar coin wrapper and cash it in!!!
Those are my favorite people. I mean someone on TNET recently found a gold coin in a coinstar machine… you just never know.

Try half dollars your chances are much better for silver.
