Went to Corpus and had my first night hunt in the water, that is the way to go, I loved it. I got to the wet sand, turned on my machine and took one step and BAMMMMMMMMMM, out comes the 14k gold diamond ring ;D I am still wearing this silly grin ;D Got into the water my second hit was the six flags ring, and I thought damn this is the life. Well not much after that some change, but after the first ring you know I was happy and no reason to get all greedy. Time flew out there I got there around 11:30 and left around 4am. My brother was with me, and sad sad sad, he turned on his excal and blah blah blah, the battery was dead, He had charged it but has found so many rings this month with it that he must of worn the battery completely out . So now he needs to order a new battery. Poor guy, I felt bad since he hadn't gotten any sleep from work and I dragged him out there. I think he is my good luck charm, too bad I have the opposite effect on him and seem to bring him bad luck.

I get to my dads fall into bed and 3hrs later get woke up by my dad banging around in the kitchen. He wakes up at day break and when ever I am there insists on making me breakfast, which is really really sweet of him. (just not on 3hrs of sleep) so I drag my butt out of bed, eat, and visit with him a bit. Then I just can't stand it I jump in the truck and head back out to the beach. That is when I got the silver ring and the cross. On the back of the cross it says Faith and Grace. I love this hobby

You know I thought night hunting would be more difficult for some reason. In truth you don't use your eyes much when recoving targets in the water except to look in the scoop. I was using a small headlamp and I would turn it on sometimes just to see in the basket. Other than that it was the same as day hunting, except, no crowds, no heat, and the water was calmer.

OK here is the old argument ...... what about nasty things in the water that like to feed close to shore at night? I am always wondering what is coming up behind me in the DAYLIGHT! I would be scared to death out there at night! I love you to pieces but I THINK YOU'RE NUTS!

OK lecture over.... those were some really nice finds. Congrats!

Wow, you sure cleaned up! But I agree with Mumszie!

Very nice :tongue3: I hope you are hunting with a friend at night. :icon_pirat:

I agree with Mumzie.

Woww that diamonds a beauty. But a night hunt? I had two 8' sharks swim past me yesterday in broad daylight, hate to think what's near me in the dark. Congrats on a great hunt.

Thats has got to be scarry. You did GREAT, but I won,t go near any water after dark. Not even fresh water. I,ve night fished for catfish, and I was looking over my shoulder all night. Maybe with a partner-maybe. Mike.

Great job on the night and day hunt

:hello2: :hello2: :hello2: Look at YOU!!! Way to go girly!!! Beautiful Ring! Nice finds for sure!!!

NICE work :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: Guzz

how did i miss this fine ticket

nice spin..................nights work

It had enough to find a someone to hunt with during the day alone finding someone to hunt at night with. But you had a great night hunt love the rings...Matt

Yep I am a bit of fraidy cat, and the thought did cross my mind about what was lurking around me. I did not go out very deep and its a bay that I was hunting so it wasn't on the gulf side.(I know what swims those guts at night in the gulf) I did have a couple things flutter around me, I figure they were flounder or rays. I used my light as little as possible because I remember as a kid we use to use a light and go gigging for flounder and the light attracted all kinds of fish.
You should always have a buddy, and I had my brother with me. There is one thing I am surprised no one mentioned and this is the big thing. Its not so much what is in the water that you have to be leery of but what is out of the water. The night brings out some less desireables. Many times in this area at daybreak the bums make their way to the showers to start their day. I did not see any homeless folks there that night but I am sure they are somewhere in the area. Also it being close to downtown there are little thugs running around. Again we were lucky that night and none were lurking. You have to be safe, and we parked under a light and had the truck in view the entire time. Several couples were on the beach in fact I was surprised how many people were out at night. There were also a couple groups of families fishing. So you stay in an area where there are still others out, stay alert and aware of your surroundings, and trust your gut. If you get that creepy feeling, leave! That goes for the day time too.

Nice finds but be careful at night. Lots of things that go bump in the night and in murky water are not friendly.
