Did a couple of hunts with mixed results. The weather was pretty bad over here with strong winds and cold rain on top of near freezing temperature.
But I still managed to get some interesting finds my favorite being the largest silver coin I have ever found.

Seated Half dollar 1870

Got really surprised finding it as I wasn't expecting to pull a large silver at a spot that didn't really look that promising. It's not in the top shape and looks like it was ''kissed'' by the plow at some point but it sure made my day. It's funny how after finding over a dozen Spanish Reales and a few early French silvers I have never found a half dollar of any kind, until this one showed up.

An other interesting find was British Navy lieutenants coat sized button, War of 1812

A musket butt stock. Unfortunately smashed by the machinery.

20181010_202339.jpg

A cool saw nut Beardshaw and son, Sheffield (thanks to I.P. for the id )

20181010_213129.jpg20181010_213143.jpg

An early vine bottle glass seal and a buckle

20181013_202514.jpg

A piece of horse harness?

20181013_202811.jpg

Gold guild civilian button.

Also found a few 1812-1815 halfpenny tokens that I have left to the farmer.

Thanks for the comments.

On the 18th at 11:30am I dug a 1859 seated half . What time did you dig your half ? It is a really good feeling , finding a coin you have never found before . Congrats

Wow, now that is a great hunt, a good array of finds. I'd be stoked to find a big silver Seated Half!

I was as well. It's a huge coin compared to ones I normally find.

Great looking Seated Half. Would you throw one of those south of your border ? I have Seated dimes and Quarters, but haven't walked over a Seated Half yet.

:laughing7: Haven't found seated quarter yet. Hopefully there's more where it came from

First half dollar is a Seated Half! Funny how things go. I've dug silver 14 halves, including 3 Barbers, but no Seated :dontknow:

Yes, that's the fun of detecting. I actually found 3 silver Spanish and one early French before a quarter of any kind.

Awesome finds- Congrats! I can only imagine what you'll pull from a promising site!

Jeff

Thanks JeffInMass

Sometimes sites that don't look that promising are way more productive

Nice Seated half. Still on my list one of these days. I dug one of those saw pieces in the spring also from Sheffield but different company, cool piece!

Yes, I really like those misc relics. Looks great

Very impressive!

I want a seated anything bad. Super hunt! [emoji16][emoji106]

Great finds :icon_thumright: And correct, As to horse harness/tack item. Most likely a saddle rosette (concho)~ leather saddle strings would go through the two cut out portions to secure items to the saddle. Usually made of nickel/german silver, or sometimes sterling silver.

That silver must have had a big sound and put a big smile on your face. Very nice collection of finds. Love the old stuff.

Yes, it gave a great sound, even being pretty deep. So great actually, I assumed it was a Pepsi can.

What a collection of some Great finds. Congrat's. I really like the 1870 seated half dollar and those buttons. Love finding buttons. The rifle but plate is a great find also. Hit this area again and really take your time.

Thanks devldog
I'll just need to fix that rifle plate, should look good on display.

Thanks 1942merc. It sure is.
I have no idea when I dug mine, I don't really keep track of it. Was in the afternoon.
