Nice find! Found my first V a couple weeks ago. The never seem to turn up in good condition. Yours seems to have some pretty good detail though. Congrats.

I gave up on digging them so I found two at a flea market and picked them both up for $3. They are nice and clean, appear undug. They aren't worth much but I didn't have to dig them either so it was worth it to me to pass them down to the youngsters someday. I think there was a 05 and 12 I think.

Thanks guys. I hate that I scratched it but I still love it. I was diggin in a local park that isnt that old so I never expected an old coin to be there. I usually just dig clad there and some silver jewelry from time to time so I was thinking it was just another nickel. Needless to say I was PLEASANTLY suprised.

Congrats to you. You beat mine by 3 years! Mine was found at a 1970's era park that used to just be a field. I figured a hunter had dropped it maybe. Mine was my oldest coin for many months. I hope you get your oldest soon too!
