I went back over another yard I had previously searched and with very good luck. The house dates to the 1830's and there are a few sections of the yard that are unaltered ground and many of the 1800's pieces are close to the surface. On yesterday's hunt it was relic after relic and one of them has me very excited since it looks an awful lot like a wax seal. What's strange is where the stone would normally be there's an orange substance that's deteriorating.
What do you guys think? The metal itself is definitely silver plated pewter and it looks like the ring at the top broke which might explain how it came to be lost. Maybe it's just wax stuck in to the stone that has deteriorated over the years?
Anyways, there were tons more relics of interest. My second favorite of the day is what looks to be a typeset character.
I'm not sure what the character is, any thoughts? The town newspaper in the late 1800's was based in the house across the street from this property so I imagine it made it's way into the yard from there. The third favorite find is also my new favorite pottery fragment.
This must have been an absolutely stunning teacup and I wish I could sift around for the rest. It just happened to be near a large piece of iron, but there's a ton more pottery and glass in this part of the yard so it may have been a trashpit or latrine. I doubt I'd be able to dig it out, but I imagine there's tons more down there.
The rest of the relics are pretty standard 1800's fare, but still fun to dig.
The buckles are absolutely tiny and the parasol slide is also the smallest I've found to date. The only two coins were a 1910 wheat penny and an 1879 Indian Head (currently in peroxide). And finally the most important find:

Nice flat buttons too and an old Indian Head Cent. The wax seal item is really cool too. Excellence in metalology!
