My First Week Detecting!

[Kilohertz]

Hey friends, I'm new to detecting and I wanted to share my first significant find after detecting for about 8 days with my Tesoro Compadre. It's a 1976 D one dollar. My finds consist of mostly clad coins and pull tabs so far but this dollar was a surprise find. Too bad it's not 40% silver which I initially thought. Thanks for looking!

Facts:
Depth: 3 inches
Detector: Tesoro Compadre w/8" coil
Setting: Foil

Cool find, those aren't common finds as they were so big people noticed when they dropped them.

It looks like you got the right idea, on the low discrimination. Keep it as low as you can & the Ses. as high as the soil allows without falsing. Good Luck, the Tesoro is good on silver, listen for the faint deep signals & always dig the 'iffy' ones, these are often the best.

Nice! Congrats! Never found a dollar coin either.

Your doing awesome Kilohertz! It took me 30 years to find my first Eisenhower dollar. I really thought I had something special when I first saw the edge of that monster!

[Tired Rooster]

Really good recovery!! Congratulations on it........that Tesoro did it's job.

Totally cool start to your detecting career - Congrats on dollar coin! In three years detecting, I've found only two silver coins, but one of them was a surface 1923 silver dollar just lying dusty on top of the ground in an old field near concrete foundations. Earlier I'd dug a nicely toned Sacajawea modern dollar coin in a park, and also a Susan B. Anthony dollar under a tree near a creek which also yielded multiple cents. Ya never know when you'll meet your next dollar coins! Here's hoping the next one will be silver! HAVE FUN! Andi

I have found dollar coins, but only the most recent ones(presidential, sacs., etc). Very cool find.

I haven't found one of those yet, just the modern ones! Looks like your doing great! Gold will show up soon!
