I was out detecting with my Excalibur at a local beach at 3am (nice minus tide) and got a good but kinda big signal. Higher type tone, so, I figured it was probably a can. Since there were VERY few signals so far, I figured, what the heck, I may as well dig it. After making a HUGE hole digging down 2 feet into the wet sand (and it continuing to collapse in on itself) I finally had it out of the hole and in my scoop. I reach into the scoop and grabbed the object which immediately lights up! A Samsung Galaxy 5 in a Lifeproof case! It showed 23% still on the battery so I figured it hadn't been there too long. Amazing how it got down that deep in such a short period of time. When I got home, I noticed the Lifeproof case had a tiny hairline crack and had let a slight bit of moisture inside, so I removed it to dry the phone out. I powered up the phone and found the owners name in the phone directory and gave him a call. He said he had lost it over the weekend while visiting here from Arizona. He gave me his address and it's heading home as soon as I can box it up and get it to the P.O.
