I found this inscribed stone in my friend's yard in Glastonbury CT. The stone measures about 2" long by 1" wide. I've shown it to a few experts who all have different opinions as to what the stone is as well as the meaning of the inscriptions.

The yard in which it was found has been flooded by the Connecticut River periodically almost yearly. It is also also at the bottom of a hill which was once inhabited by a Native American tribe.

Any help in identifying this stone is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for taking a look:-)

Interesting stone, what is that a triangle and 3 lines...does it go around the stone?

It looks like a trail marker stone

Well ya'll...My Father is telling me that he does not want me to play with ya'll any more for a while...He wants me to remind ya'll of the cease and desist order... And to remind ya'll of the 7 day thingy...Oh well...This may not make sense to some of ya'll but My Father informs me that it will make perfect sense to some of ya'll Others...

So...Peace...And may ya'll have a Merry Mary Christmas...hehehe

???????????????????????

That is a very nice find , I have never seen anything like it:dontknow:

Welcome aboard DG, thats a interesting stone you have found.
That was a strange message mixed into your post, sorry bout that.

Welcome aboard Diggergirl. It is possible that it is incised or it could be natural which would be a bummer. Most incised lines on artifacts the stone was of a very good quality and polished. Are you the Diggergirl that metal detects with B.B?

admittedly this is a guess, but it's not natural

it says: three canoes on bank by triangle stone at waterfall

it's ancient email

i can not see anything on it that stands out but it may be a stone they ground down there arrowheads with.

This is just a idea, but you mite try to wrap a piece of paper around it and do a charcoal rub on it, to see if any other grove designs show up.

Nice and I have no clue lol but I'd keep it till I found out what the black is

Good idea! I'll post the charcoal rubbing when I get it done.
As far as it being natural, I'll take more pics in a bit...I've shown it to a Native American artifact expert who told me that it's definitely authentic, definitely worth a lot of money (I didn't ask about value, he just kept emphasizing this point), but as he was an expert on Western Native American artifacts, he couldn't put a definite id on the stone. He thinks it's a personal power stone, but not sure.

Thanks Ed, but it didnt make any sense to me at all. Mary Christmas back at ya.

I was hoping to see runes or ogam script. If the markings are manmade it could still possibly be ogam script.
