I'm on vacation this week, and of course I'm going to do all the Mding I can.

Went to breakfast this morning. The old guys were sitting around talking as usual at the local diner. I know several of them, and they asked me why I wasn't working so they could get their SSI checks. Ha!

I told them my plans, and the stories started rolling out. You know, one of them said, there were a couple of old houses down by the river on that triangle patch of land by the Quarry. I remember that, another said, couple of old shacks built in the mid-1800's he guessed. I wanted to know who owned it. The Quarry they supposed.

Never been one for a wild goose chase, and knowing that bunch of old coggers, they'd set me up in a heartbeat and laugh at me tomorrow. I went to the library and looked at the old Sanborn maps. Sure enough the houses were there in 1880.

I set out this morning to hit the (Eagle) again, but thought I'd give this site a shot if I could get permission. Stopped by the Quarry office, and they said go ahead, signed the waver and went out. There was a lane that was barely visable snaking its way between some thick foliage. Started swinging my way back through the woods. I found the old foundation close to a badly worn electric pole long out of use. In 15 minutes I'd almost had enough. The mosquitos were eating me up. I'd found 2 mems, a'59 and a '70. I thought I might wait until the fall when the leaves died away, but you know how it is. I ducked under the trees and kept swinging. Got a signal that jumped around from dime to quarter with a solid line at 3 1/2" So I dug it up.
My second LC this year, an 1832 Coronet head. The oldest coin I've found.

With that coin in my pouch I was happy for the moment and got the Sam hill out of there, for now.

Thanks for looking.
