Were you watching to see if Indians would come riding across the plains? Sure is a difference between out west viewing this versus the swamps of Louisiana.

I guess the contrast is what does the trick!

Its on a Navajo reservation, but I kept a lookout for the Apaches

The Navajo Indians are some fine people. I always relate them to the "Wind Talkers"

Great pics!...the wife and I were down there a couple of years ago. It's a good place to visit, but I liked Valley of the Gods just as much, if not more.

I have seen the winds around 60mph out there...they close the interstate due to the wind, at times...
those Navajo come in all types...just like other humans.

Sorry, Roy...no pics. Valley of the Gods is in Utah (I had to look it up). We were heading west on 163 from Bluff. We'd gone over Comb Ridge, and were heading down, and I just barely noticed this old, weathered sign, with an arrow. Had to stand on the brakes...LOL I'm sure glad I saw it. The gravel loop is about 35 miles of mostly deserted country (we saw 1 car). The road comes out on 261 about 15 miles north of Mexican Hat. If you go north from there, it takes you up the ugly Moki Dugway grade, and on to natural Bridges National Monument. We did that, then backtracked south to Monument Valley. Valley of the Gods has these amazing narrow rock towers, with wider domes at the top...many of them. I'm surprised it's as little-known as it is. I'd barely heard of it, when I saw the sign, and had no idea where it was. There are no services of any kind...not even a water faucet.

Goolged up the places mentioned here and enjoyed the pics. For some reason the Google search also brought up some pics from the "Bisti Badlands", anybody heard of that place? looked like another planet, very bizarre!
