So yesterday after MD'ing at another camp in the U.T. the property owner showed me a medallion that he had dug up as a kid near a Pony Express Station. I would say that he is in his mid to late fifties now so this had to be in the early 1960's.

Anyway, he was wondering if I could find any information on it for him. The strap that it is attached to is not original to the medallion.

It's called a "Radiant Eagle Counter". It is one of many different varieties of game counters used in card playing in the 19th century. Game counters mostly predate poker chips.

This one here is also the rarely seen variant with a fancy rim/border and watch winder detail. The condition is exceptional as well, for a recovered item. :icon_thumright:
