So I dug this 1 foot deep underground under the surface in an area of a civil war battle site in Atlanta GA any clues?

Are you using a color filter or contrast setting on your pictures?
I noticed that the last several all appear to be bright orange/gold.
I would recommend showing the items in their real colors. It may help with IDs at some point IMO. 👍🏼

That’s orthoquartzite. That’s the only type of quartzite you can flake. Hixton from WI, Tallahatta from down south, Spanish Diggings out west. Not the greatest raw material but it was used where there wasn’t any flint.

No I’m not using a color filter or a contrast maybe it’s my lamp on the table causing that color in the pics but the spear point in this pic is like a red orange color I don’t know please let me know

Take a photo outside in natural lighting.
Certain indoor lighting gives off colour changes.

Good recovery 👏

I’ve got a couple made from the tan quartzite too. I’m in NW Georgia

Can you post picture in natural light, it is the lamp light causing the color I think.

Looks like a small knife to me.

The orange/yellowing is due to taking the pics under a fluorescent lamp. Use a 5000k LED bulb and they'll come out fine.

Here are the images with some color correction.

Don't know much about stone artifacts, other than what I've learned here on the site. Looking closer at the pics, I would believe that stone has been worked. Knife or spear point maybe?

Congratulations on the recovery 👏
Display it proudly.
