Navy Button. Age?

Any help would be appreciated! We found it kinda in a book but it didn't list any date info on it. Hopefully some of the button experts can clue me in:-)

Can you read the back at all? If not can you put down what you can see? The photo is hard for me to read.

It says SPIES which we figured to be A. W. Spies then inside that it says treble gilt?

If it's the right A.W. Spies it is C-1820's. The complete back mark would need to read: "A.W. Spies/For Sea Service/Treble Gilt/Standard Colr," and that is a Navy button. The only other treble gilt button would read, "No. 4 Spies/J.M/Treble Gilt" I'd say you found a good one.
