Sweet thanks any idea on a date and best was to bend it back straight?

[Subterranean]

RFD was in use up until 30-40 years ago I believe. I have straightened back to flat items by this method...two flat pieces of wood on either side of the tag, place the sandwich in a bench vise and SLOWLY crank it down. Finish off the flattening with a rubber/plastic mallet on a flat hard surface. Sub

Back in the day, postmen had route numbers-- as does yours designate route #1.
Mine was RFD #2, Prairie View

When I try to straighten bent items, I hold them with pliers, and put the item into boiling water for a while. I think the heat may help. but you have to work fast when you take it out of the water. Sometimes I'll use 2 pairs of pliers and straighten it under the water.

Depending on it's size my guess would be a name plate off of a dog collar...d2

[NOLA_Ken]

I'd agree with d2, I've found a few of the old dog collar tags around here, they were pretty common for hunting dogs

Just to add: As to age of this tag:

Rural Free Delivery ("RFD") was authorized by the Congress in 1890, but it took a while to catch on.
According to the UPSP website, RFD began in 1896, though only experimentally in West Virginia.
A year later (1897), RFD had expanded to 44 routes in 29 states (possibly including Louisiana, although the link does not say).
So, your tag potentially dates as far back as 1897, but likely no further.

Updating my prior post...

Date likely to be no earlier than 1904.
The first rural route for Baton Rouge began on 05/16/1904
