Wow nice finds man I'm thinking the one is a salt glazed clay marble the odd one doesn't look like it could be hafted to me... I think I would consider it an eccentric
Super nice finds Is there any grinding on the base of the point where you are holding it. It could be a learning piece from someone learning to knapp or has Gator said a eccentric . I love that marble and the point with the impact break.
You had a good day! My first hunch was eccentric- but the 'learning' tool seems to fit as well. Marble glazed? It's a bit big too- maybe Cheese over in the Marbles department knows something about that one. HH Yak
That thought went through my mind and that's what led to my statement about how it doesn't look like it could be hafted.. You would tear up your hand if you tried to hold it and use it and the base stem area looks way too thick and actually has serrations where it would need to be hafted
I wonder about that marble? I find them once in a blue moon on sites. Always keep them. What do you think painter? Salt glazed marbles would be a colonial find mixed in with what looks to be almost a pine tree era flaking style. I would run a detector around the site could be multi component/habitation whatever. )))
I think that big ole stack on top ended its future
I really am not sure guess I learn something everyday and I think a metal detector is a great idea . This would b my first marble so I should prob do some reading
What was the context of the find? Was everything coming from one level or was it all mixed up?
If you've ever held a hardened clay marble in your hand you would probably have no problem telling the difference between stone and the marble
It was coming from 16 to 18 deep I've found everything from a hoe to the broke clovis thus far we graded out a pad for a pavilion it was 32' by 24' deepest cut being around 18 inches

Ask Gator. A metal detector will open up a whole new world. A good site or location is often used for thousands of years and the last 200 will be the metal detecting finds. It is very addictive. I hunt plowed fields and creeks and swing a detector at the same time. Ever need any advice on one I can try to help as can many members. Thanks for sharing your finds Painter.
