Need VERY sturdy tools!

I've gone through 2 giant survival knives (by far my favorite too, but not a good idea to carry around a 10 inch blade!!) numerous spades and shovels. I am a welder so I fabbed a digging tool out of 4 inch diesel exhaust but its bending too!!

I'm a big guy and I do a lot of strength and conditioning ( habit from football ) and break everything I use especially when hitting rock or roots.

I'm designing a really cool proximity digging tool that will make plugging to certain depths much easier (its mechanical) but I still need a good tool I won't torque in half. Last knife almost went through my hand when it broke!

Short of fabbing my own.. Any suggestions?

Garrett's digger is not what it's cracked up to be. Mine gave up after less than 8 hours. The plug in the end of the handle is glued in and comes off a bit too easily in my opinion. I took photos and emailed and they offered to replace, but if its the same quality, why would I want it? Maybe they will send me a hat...that I can use!

Treasure Wise Tools are tough too 1/3 the cost of the Lesche,and just as good life time warranty.

Garret digger isn't that bad its built strong the scoop is wider than the lesche, now my handle the little rubber one ya after a little while mine poped off aswell, that's the only issue I called garret they sent me a complete replacement sheath/digger whole thing,so now I got 2 & to fix the rubber handle put a little gorilla glue on it never moved since very easy fix.& not a bad thing that cuz the handle cam off u can't use it

I am using the Garrett digger as well. It's seen quite a lot of use in 6 months and I have had no problems with it. I read somewhere a bicycle grip works very well as a handle replacement. The business end looks like it should last me forever. Not gonna wear it out and is marked with depth inches which certainly comes in handy when the dirt is hard and you don't want to dig any deeper than you have to!

The Lesche tools can take a lot of abuse, and I've yet to see the Lesche Digging tool bent. There are two manufacturers making the Lesche, both are made in the USA by Lesche family members.

G.A.P. Metal how long have you been using the treasure wise tools iam looking for an extra digging tool.Right now i use a fiskars.Just want to find out how sturdy the treasure wise tools are.

Very cool thanks for the pic..i bent may hand made spade the other day i have to get something before saturday! It supposed to rain ao maybe the ground will soften up!

If you want to try to fab another digging tool you need to make it out of some type of tool steel or something that is hardeneded or can be hardened. Exhaust is just mild steel and won't hold up to any kind of twisting. Look for a piece of steel like saw blade from a large saw from a mill or planer blade, even a piece of leaf spring would work if you could find a thinner one.
