Hello everyone, my name is Jared and I live in Panama City Beach, Florida. As a kid I was always fascinated by coins, but have put that all on hold for the last 20 years due to school and college and work. For some reason out of the blue it has struck my fancy again, so I'm going to buy my first metal detector here soon. I have decided to go with the Garret AT Pro to start with, I will be getting a PI machine later down the road, but I just want a good all around machine to get started with. I was thinking of the CTX 3030, but the price just doesn't make sense for a first purchase. maybe after my first good find I'll get super motivated and excited and splurge for the CTX :) Happy Hunting everyone ! I'll be sure to post up my Spanish Treasures I find on the beach :tchest: ehehehehehe

Welcome aboard to TNET Jared and wish you many great finds with your ATP while out dirt fishing. The ATP is a fantastic machine and for practice might think about putting in a coin - jewelry & trash garden.

Texas ED

that is actually a great idea ! everyday I can sweep over it that should speed up the memorization process with associating a number and tone to a specific item. my plan is to just dig every signal for the first year though :)

Welcome Aboard Jared! Take a look at Sub-Forums: Florida for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

Welcome aboard :icon_thumleft:

check in on the beach forum - many fla hunters there

Welcome.PNG You might find the ATP to unstable in the wet sand but fine in the dry sand. You can turn down sens but lose depth. CTX is nice but CZ-21 or Excel II is just as good and way less expensive. Suggest a Sunspot Stealth scoop for wet sand retrieval. 720i Sunspot.JPG
