New info on Turkey Noah’s Ark Site

for me it is just too bad that folk take ancient Jewish myth as literal truth and miss the whole point of "faith". The complexity of life on earth, compared to life...well, ANYWHERE else, is stupefying. And don't get me started about the complexity of the universe!!! The very concept that time next to a black hole equals one minute there to 700 years here is, "say what again"? Gravity bends time?!! Wait, WHAT!? Or how about, the greatest mass in the universe is not stars and planets but it is sub-atomic particles in INTERGALACTIC NOWHERE!!! Science doesn't interrupt faith for me in any way.

Info I am getting indicates no human made artifacts or tools have been recovered yet. But the real work is just now getting started. It has been confirmed however, the dimensions are the same as the ark specifications of the Jewish reference.

In this case the seashells don't count. In years past I posted seashell fossils here on TN a tressure hunter found high up on a mountain slope in Jordan. After doing considerable geological research on the area, soon realized this was a volcanic uplift of the Jurassic layer. In fact, along with the shell fossils, he found a large animal (or reptile) petrified tooth. All these came out of a strange isolated reddish rock formation down about a 21-22 foot depth.

Back then cost him only 2K to get them out and excavte his site. Property owner was his brother, so was all in the family.

The new GPR imagery is interesting, if accurate. Apparently the soil composition contains far more organic matter than the soil just outside the supposed perimeter of the ship. I mean, how does the length of this formation happen to exactly match the 300 cubit length mentioned in the Bible? Pretty compelling stuff.

The natural geological formation in Turkey (at Durupınar site) is between 515-528 feet in length. Depending on which cubit measurement the Book of Genesis relates to, the quoted 300 cubit length of the Ark could be between about 515-525 feet.

That’s a close match in length, but the Book of Genesis also gives the width of the Ark at about 85 feet. The Durupinar structure is significantly wider at between 132-140 feet.

I can imagine the sides of the ship collapsing over time and spreading out to around that width. We can be pretty certain it wouldn't have maintained it's original width, right? The length however is another matter. The fact that the width is slightly wider and the length has remained around the same almost even adds another layer of confirmation. I'm not personally convinced either way. But they should certainly excavate to determine the true nature of those newly mapped voids.

The Biblical account of the flood story is echoed across numerous ancient texts (Mesopotamian Epic of Gilgamesh, Hindu Manu story, Greek Deucalion, various Native American, African, and Australian Aboriginal accounts, etc.), the origins of which are otherwise totally separated from each other by vast oceans and continents. You can either choose to believe in recorded human history or you can choose to believe in a history of your own making.

I would agree. It ceases to be ridiculous if regarded as an allegorical/metaphorical story about human corruption, divine judgment, and salvation.

It is interesting that every ancient culture had a global deluge story, myth, belief. Even land locked desert cultures and those high in the mountains had stories about a world wide flood.
