Hello just registered, My name is Robert and I live in Yorkshire England. I started detecting about 25 years ago and have enjoyed every minute . Where I live you can, if lucky find stuff from celtic up to modern. The main thing for me is just to be out searching in the country side. I hope to be out searching tommorow but the weather forcast is poor lots of wind and rain. Here's a find from a few weeks ago. It's a Roman disc brooch from about the 2nd century, I found it on a field that iv'e searched many times over the years. Hopefully it will attach, please let me know if it dosn't.

Cheers
Robert.

Well it's raining again

Looks like detectings off today very heavy rain, it's not stopped the wife though, she's gone christmas shopping in York. Found this little debased silver coin the other month. It's a styca of the Northumbrian king Eanred, the moneyer is Eadvini. The coin dates to 810-841AD. Thanks for all the replies.

Robert.

ps. sorry the pictures are a bit blurred, it's a small coin and I need a better camera.

Re: Celtic / Roman gold coins

Hi Crusader, Iv'e had 3 celtic gold over the years, but never had a Roman gold ,plenty of silver though. Certainly won't be finding anything today, the weather is shocking. I think the best plan is a few beers tonight.

Just remember "if in doubt dig it out".
Robert.

Welcome from South Carolina! Nice finds! We occasionally find the King George II & III half pennies along the coast and even a King Charles coin now and then. Keep up the posts, I think we all wish for a trip to England and a chance to find really old treasure.!!! :o :o ;D
