Hi All,

I'm new to the site. Used to TH but haven't in a while and took out the Garrett to a 1790's house last weekend and found this old buckle. Not sure if pic shows it but good condition with green patina. Could this be a colonial buckle? ... Also, found a silver ring not pictured.

Cool buckle!
Copper or brass.
No indication of missing parts?
My guess is 1800's relic.
Lots of places to visit online,
that specialize/collect buckles.
That's part of the fun of detecting, the research...!
...and, learn along the way...!
Welcome to Treasure Net!

How can I tell if it's copper or brass and should I clean it? No indication of any missing parts to the buckle.. Thanks.

Nice relic, congrats! :occasion14:

It's an odd looking brass buckle but probably part of a horse harness set up. Circa 1890-1930s?
