Quick newbie question. Just started metal detecting about a month with my son. Found this bullet in my field. I have seen the 3 ring before but not this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I believe it is more modern. Please show us a pic of the base, is it flat or concave? Diameter in inches equals caliber.

Does that ring, have little lines in it? Cannelures is the name of the little vertical lines, and they indicate post-1880 manufacture.

Good luck to you sir!

Awesome!! I will post some more pics later this evening. Good info!!

Please include a pic of the base of the bullet and yes, diameter is important. Thanks for your post.

The other boys helped me out when I was getting started, and I try to do the same for other people.

Hit the "like" button, so that I know to come back and check it out.

Welcome to TNet sir.

Fun find regardless of it's history!

Nicely done, and all the best,

Lanny

Awesome find! There are many experts here that can possibly ID your bullet. I look forward to it, and your future post. welcome to t-net.

It doesn't especially look modern. Under magnification I cannot see any of the modern little lines on it. Try to get a diameter on it to determine the caliber.

Well I am trying to upload photos but it’s says I don’t have permission. I will try in the morning. It measured 0.303 inch in diameter

Welcome to the forum. Nice find!
