Newbie question - Johannesburg?

Hellow everyone,

I’ve just joined the forum and wonder if anyone has done gold panning or prospecting in South Africa? Perhaps in Johannesburg or Pretoria?
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

I'm surprised that nobody told you to google this question !!!! I did and there is a ton of info there . BUT you need a permit from the African "Gubermint" to prospect and the fee is determined on what mineral your looking for ! to many big animals over there that would like to have their way with unwary people /animals for me to even consider ! BUT good luck to you on your quest for the gold ! please send me a bunch of sample's !

They have a local variety of beef jerky down there called biltong that is pretty damn addictive.
