Nice buckle today questions about age and leather.

So I've found leather in the ground on brass rivets and buckles before, but this find made me wonder. Does brass preserve leather in the ground? What do you think the age of the buckle is? how long can leather last in the ground? Thanks for looking and your input. The leather disintegrated before I got home. But it's clearly visible in the video.

depending on the soil condition little tad bits of leather can stay on the relic even after 150 years+, it is somewhat common to dig mainly stuff like knapsack rivets with a little bit of leather still left over if your in some good rich soil...
