Nice foreign 1897 coin found in halves

I went and picked up 4 boxes of halves today and in the first box I found both of these foreign coins side by side in one roll. I am familiar with the One Penny (this is the second one I've found) but don't know much about the 1897 one, any info would be appreciated.

I am on my android Phone and can't search for you, but off the top of my head I can tell you that the US silver dollar was based on the Spanish milled dollar, which the peso was also based from. Obviously that coin is 12.5 grams of silver, but you will have to Google it. The Mexican peso of the time was .903 fine, if I recall. My guess is it has about the same silver as a half dollar of the same period. Collector value may be vary different. Try Numista...
