Went back to the nickel zone again today and there was a nice rain just before I arrived !

I think that the added moisture made dimes hit really good got ten total. Got sixteen nickels this time a new record for this site in one trip
:blackbeard: The zinc pennies are on the left the coppers are on the right side. Got five quarters nice bonus there8-)

Here are the better items. The trashed ring read just like a nickel 12-13 I only had the reading momentarily then it went to like 12 - 40. Opened the plug and there was the trashed ring on digging down a bit more found a copper penny. The trashed ring has some type of small white stone and I was able to bend it back into a circle sorta need to get a ring sizing tool surprised it did not break. The wheat got signed by my Lesche of course, its the second 1946 from the Nickel zone. The dangler read at like 12 - 43. Any type of jewelry makes the hunt go better:treasurechest:

Thanks for looking

Is that ring silver, I'd like to see it fixed up if it is?
Good digging, should find gold if you keep digging all those nickels.
Keep @ it and HH !!

The ring seems to be gold plated copper, it bent back into a rough circle without breaking, and on scraping the underlying color seems to look like copper. One of my friends buddies gave the ring a bite test he said it was soft, copper is not very hard right?

Copper wire, etc. is easily bent without breaking, & softens quicker than silver when heated in jewelry-making kiln. Copper hardens when manipulated, but reheating softens it again. Seems cool to me that someone threw money all over that site for you to dig, lol. :icon_thumright: Looking forward to your next post. Andi

Thanks for that info about copper Andi 8-) It seems there is always much to learn about the finds made when metal detecting. That ring is the first gold plated copper ring that I have found. The cheaper rings have found in the past are for the most part quite hard material probably brass with a little brushed gold plating they don't like being bent at all. That ring came from an older site that has had longer use, so the ring most likely has some age to it. I figure that back in the 80s all the silver there got cleaned out, leaving the nickels and pennies behind. I find an occasional wheat penny and rarely a silver dime but they are very few and far between.

Happy Hunting :treasurechest:
