I have seen so many VDI charts showing nickels at 24/25 and I have never found a single nickel with those numbers. All the nickels that I have found have been 30/31. I find a lot of nickels and was curious, does anyone know why there is a difference?

Evening, ya know I think i was getting 25 on nicks with the stock coil but can't remember for sure but with the sp24 nicks are like you said dead on 30/31. Leave the sp24 coil on fulltime nowadays! HH

Same problem here. I've been told by a reliable old-timer,
that each machine is a bit different than the others of the same model....
its true!
Make your own VDI chart, so if you do the correct ground balance procedure,
and the numbers come up consistent - dig that nickel...!
I enjoy my machine now, after sweating over what is good or not - guess, then dig it up...!
Have Fun!

All I know is that the Simplex is a great nickel machine !!

nickels did ring up at ~ 25, but that was with the stock coil and early versions of code

Yeah depending usually in the 20 area but other metas give similar signal and numbers

Hmmmmm......never found a nickel yet!

Just found a 1979 in my front yard with the stock coil bouncing between 29-31.
