Traded a few Civil War bullets for these bracelets. There are 15 names and only one male. the date on each clasp is 1944. I would like to know what the enameled star represents? Thanks

In WWI and later WWII & Korea on it was called a "Mother's Flag" or pin. Son (or daughter) in the service.

What you didn't want to do was "earn" the gold star - lost a son (or daughter) in the war/service.
