✅ SOLVED ocean jasper sphere

i bought this huge stone sphere of ocean jasper and it weighs around 20 kilo. The seller thought it was petrified wood, but i have got two confirmations that it is ocean jasper.

No idea as to what it's made of, but it's a beautiful polished stone.

Does not resemble Ocean Jasper from Madagascar really at all, which is the only source for it. I am fortunate to know Gene Mueller who trademarked the name "Ocean Jasper" and also has a shop here in Wisconsin so I have seen a fair share of it.

Your looks like a brecciated mix of things, Chalcedony, Jasper etc. whereas Ocean Jasper has fairly distinct patterning. So unless you felt the seller was guessing at the petrified wood claim your best bet is to stick with that or call it basically an agatized mix sphere..or something similar.

oke but the sphere has to have a name and not an agate mix breccia thingy. I know that it is defently not petrified wood because of the brecciation with different collored clasts. What about this detail photo then??

Unless you find out more specifics from the seller...not much to label it as other than something similar to what I said, any other title you give it such as Ocean Jasper or any other popular trade named lapidary type material should be followed by a question mark since its a speculative guess. Maybe reach out to the seller?

The seller and owner of the mineral shop has no knowledge about stones and relies on the info of the wholesaler. So it is impossible to find out. I will make work of this trust me.
