Any clues about what this is? It was found in RI in a church green. It looks like it would have a specific purpose.. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Thanks, creksol....

Im thinking rein guide as well. Internet produces a few pics that look very similar including the tab that looks like it grips the underside of the bottle cap. Wagon parts are pretty common.
Unless she has monstrous hands, that piece is too small to serve as a rein guide.

If it was me I would soak it in Vinegar and wire brush it twice a day until you get the rust off. Trying to seal it like it is will be futile as it will just erupt later.

Every reins guide I have ever dug or seen were brass. Not saying there weren't any iron ones but brass/bronze holds up better outdoors where you want a smooth action though the guide.

I think some cleaning would help a lot.

As is, my WAG is a bilge plug for a boat, but most I have ever seen, just like the reins guide, are brass.

Still not sure what it is but does kind of look like a bottle opener to me...

Bilge plug certainly folds like that!! Great thought. They are brass too though.

Go to your original post and click edit. The Solved option should appear.
I've done it in the past...but always have trouble finding edit or drop down menu...on iphone.
