Ceramic Object seems to be hollow in the middle, very curious what it's purpose is.
Both found in a site that was the old city dump from somewhere around ~1880s-1940's maybe.
Hi, I found this piece of metal. It is magnetic and it tests extremely positive for nickel with the nickel testing solution. I thought it might be an iron nickel meteorite and I sent some pics for meteorite identification but it got rejected as meteorite, and so now I’m wondering what it could...
Hey everyone,
Hoping ya'll can help me understand the difference between a meteorite and natural iron. I doubt that I'm lucky enough to have found an actual meteorite but how does one tell without being able to cut it in half to look at the internal structure?
I've attached images of a "rock"...

Hello all,
I work for a local quarry, and I often find deposits in the PA sandstone that look like this.
My boss wants me to figure out what it is.
It is not magnetic.
I also might add, it is very heavy compared to normal sandstone.
Thanks!
Hi all,
These two belt buckles (?) were found on the same farm field. Europe. Are they modern, modern-ish, old, old-ish or older than that?
Material: Iron. Both ca. 5 cm (1,97 inch).
Thanks in advance,
Kaj
Hi all,
These two unusual 'banana' shaped iron objects were found on a farm field, Europe. Other finds were a range of iron objects (including modern) and a Roman hob nail (ID'ed on this forum).
Material: Iron. 6 cm (2.36 inches) & 7 cm (2.75 inches).
Thanks in advance,
Kaj
Hi all,
First of all, happy new year!
Does anyone recognize this object? Found in Europe. Modern, modern-ish, (very) old, or ... ancient...?:dontknow:
Material: Iron. 13,5 cm = 5.315 inches.
Best regards,
Kaj
Any ideas on this?
I keep hearing "vesicular basalt" but this has me stumped. Found near Lone Mountain Nevada yesterday evening, was the ONLY rock like it within my field of view. It's heavy for it's size (about as heavy as 2 cans of pepsi), has what I think is a very worn fusion crust, has...
Snow and ice still around here, but so was cabin fever, so I slogged half a mile through cutover, ice, and mud to this old chimney. Found tons of old iron pieces plus these three--an old smokehouse lock and two whatsits. I'm sure someone out there has some answers!<br>

Thanks!
P.S. Tried...

There is a magnetic hanging from the rock in both pictures and it's extremely heavy. Doesn't have rust so I'm wondering if anyone can help point me in the right direction to identify.
I found this item in Luxembourg (Western Europe) in an area with stuff from the 1600s-modern times.
The top part of bronze or some sort of copper alloy with the bottom part being iron and is very heavy for its size.
I have no clue as to what it might be so any help is much appreciated.
Thanks!
Bit cloudy and cool today, there were quite some amount of people walking up and down the streets. It felt another perfect day to go detect. For a while I've been looking at a small strip of undisturbed forest between the road and the community park. I planned to go detecting inside the strip...
My buddy found this in what was once a farm until around 1970. I believe it’s iron. It is pretty heavy. There are no makers marks on it. I used a can of soda for size purposes. He attempted to remove some of the rust with Naval jelly which explains the whitish color. It was really closer to...
I found approximately 15 of these iron artifacts at a colonial house site that goes back to the early 1700s. Not sure exactly how old they are, or what they are... They all are about 2.5" tall, .5 inch thick, with a small notch at the bottom. Does anyone have any insight? Thank you in advance!
