Oh How I Hate Crawdads

I never thought of crawdads as my enemy until today. I had a perfect silver dime signal at 6" deep and it was right beside a crawdad tower. His hole was the size of a silver dollar and when I cut my plug I could hear something fall in the water somewhere down below. Thankfully it must have been a stone because when I swept the coil again the target hadn't moved. After extreme care with my digging I was able to see the glint of a dimes edge right in the side of his tunnel. I wonder just how many coins are lost forever because of the holes these critters dig.

We used to catch then as a kid for a crawfish boil.

Hey if you want ot know if he is hiding any coins. Just work your hand down his hole and he will grab your finger and you can pull him out. Then recheck his hole and you could alway put him in you pouch for dinner later. mmmmmmmmmgood....Matt

All you need to do is train the crawdads. Make a little leash for them and teach them to go into other crawdad holes and grab onto the coins with their pinchers...then reel them in. You'll be rich in no time.

You should hack into a pin pointer, attach the mini coil to the crawdads back, splice in a long strong wire and let the crawdad go into the hole and see if it beeps...that way you are only digging the holes with coins in them..........shhhhhhh ...don't let Garrett's hear about this....they might apply for a patent.

They call 'em Crawdads here and they aren't food. They are bait to catch food with. Some day I would like to go to Maine and eat a real big Main crawdaddy. All they have here is those rubber tasting things they call lobster tails. They are so over cooked it's like chewing on a rubber ball! Monty

When I was a kid my best friend's dad would pay us 50 cents-to a $1 for crawdads that had blue pinchers or were bigger than our hands ,other than that we used to blow up the small ones with firecrackers.I know I'm not the only one that has done that.

We used to go seining for them in the creek where I grew up then use them for bait at the lake. They make great bait for Largemouth Bass and Bluecats.

I have only had crawdads a couple of times, but i liked them steamed rather than boiled like lobster.
