OK I'm back again with another what is it..(solved by Lucas & bigcypresshunter)

No clue at all... there is a pencil in the back ground for size reference ok I have one clue its square on the bottom round at the top... and it made of brass... ok fine thats 3... no writing... nothing on it... found in an area that dates from the 30's to the 50's

My guess would be a cast brass lamp base

if anyone seen any of that... sorry I had a premature solution... the hole is too big...

it is threaded... the threaded diameter is almost 1/4 inch real close

I'm thinking the same thing, a lot of trophies have threaded rod that goes up through the rest of the parts of the trophy, it is about the right size for a small trophy.

I guess it could be a small candlestick base as well with the upper part screwing into the base.

I would say candlestick, 1 1/2 inches is pretty small for a trophy base.
