I don't think the poster is a scammer, but let's face it, how many of us could call up and say...gold coins, with an indian head, eagle...or silver coins with a ladies head on them?

In order to claim what he found I am sure that you would need to describe the old guns as well as the coins and the manner that they were buried in. It could be that someone really did find a cache and is trying to return it buuuuuut probably not.

Hmmmmmm you could write and asked to be kept up to date on the story. If it is true and he finds the owner then have him post pics.

This could be a phishing attempt--to get information/personal addresses from individuals that collect guns or coins, or other detectorists.


I don't really know what the purpose of the ad is--so that is a Big Red Flag. Any ad which I don't understand, I steer clear.

Sounds like he is trolling for someone in the area who has a gun or coin collection. Don't know why he just didn't take the money and guns and kept quiet, if the guns are that old chances are they don't have any papers and coins are coins, you can't trace them. Something is a bit fishy with the entire ad.

It is obvious to me it's one of three things.

He's playing around to see if he snags a Fed.

a Feds Playing to snag the owner or info on the owner


or three he found a cache
and is using Craigs list to
set notice out, in case somone in the area
knows anything about it.

Personally I think he shoud remove the add
& Keep it if he found it.
