Doug, it's difficult to do much of a search without the title and
authors name..is there a title there that I'm missing?

You could be dealing with a rare title, and while condition
is always a critical factor in a books value, the issues I see
with your book can be corrected by a professional.

Here is a link to the Booksellers Assn. in Texas. It would
be well worth your time to have that volume looked at, and were
it me I would call a few of the stores local to you and see if they
have a person knowledgeable on books from that era.

FWIW, I would be sure to keep it dry, and out of the sunlight.
Do not seal it in a plastic bag, as humidity will develop inside
and cause damage.

I think the third picture is the title page. The author was Ant. As ham. Thanks dizzy!

I'm sorry, I meant to say the author appears to be Ant. Ashcam.

Very cool. Best title I can figure is “A Discourse”

I found it in a catalog - Antony Ascham’s “A Seasonable Discourse”. A noted thinker in his time and college students are still reading it. I would think ur looking in the range of at least $2,500

Eeeek - one sold for 13,000 british pounds.

Go poke around online - there are a couple of different editions from the 1600’s but they’re all valuable. Congrats! I’m jealous lol.

3 part poli sci position series.

If you are looking to keep it then send it in to restoration, Library of Congress offers it as well as the Smithsonian.

If you want it sold to a collector then I would suggest the following link, auction-estimates | Sotheby's

Nice part about a band or series is that you may find a collector who is missing this one, or which is more likely and normally my case, find a collector that has hit a wall in completing other sets or has completed their sets and now needs that new hunt. Sothebys is great at reaching out to potential buyers, and often command a crazy high price on items. Lots of Poli Sci collectors.

Now if you find someone who asks you if you have the other books and it is not worth much without the others; just run away fast because they are full of crap and not a real collector but would like to add to their Hank the Cowdog collection.

Book is ate up really bad, even for mid 16s. Great starter book for anyone looking to seriously collect or someone who needs a new band hunt.
