I had a quick hunt before work along the coast today in an area that used to be called Pisarinco. This Xterra 70 isn't the greatest on the beach... but I've managed to tame the beast, somewhat.

I found this but I'm not sure what it is.

I looked for a hallmark, but all I saw was a doublestamped mark containing 4 digits. The first two were 9 7... the rest I have no idea.

I also found this little guy but I do not know what it is from. It looks like lead, and it's heavy... stamped with a 13 on one side... and a J on the other.

Watch for sure.

Best Wishes,

Buckles

The item with the 13 looks old for sure. I wonder if its an old lead seal.

It could be. Perhaps one lead seal that's been folded over and that piece broke off...

Thanks, gents. :)

Looks like a good area...were you near a railroad?

No, but there has been a community there since the early 1800's. Mostly fishermen. Probably some rum runners too back in the day. :P

watch not compass......but cool

Compasses were a common gentlemans (and sometimes ladies) accessory in Victorian times, often quite small,

if the glass is intact, they are easily Ided by the divot that held the needle in position.
Got a nice one, can't find the pix :(
Your watchcase appears to be an old keywound type,
Agree your other item is likely lead bale seal.
Nice Finds! looking forward to seeing more.. HH to you!
