Had a Awesome hunt on sunday with Hogge and the crew. Spent about 4 hrs hunting this 1700s foundation. It rained hard the night before, the old wood road we had to walk down was more like a streem than a road! The ground was very wet which i think makes for good hunting conditions. 4 coins were found,3 are being cleaned by Hogge (which he will post later) and the 1819 LC i cleaned myself because its MINE ALL MINE :icon_pirat:It was a great day and a great hunt! And thanks to Hogge i found my first Large Cent
Pics are of Foundation, Hogge playing in the dirt again, Kim with her coin, Brian with his coin, Me with my coin 1819 LC!!!!!!!!

Thanks for Looking!!!!!!!!!!

It could also be Newcome 6 which is common. Whatever variety it is you can be sure that it is spectacular. :icon_sunny:

Nice Largie, congratulations on your first one, may more follow!

It is a Newcomb 6 variety(Rarity 1 Very Common). On this variety the coin is often found with a weak O and C, in your case a very weak O :D
Also, besides the positions of the point of leaves in relation to the letters, this variety has AME in AMERICA almost, if not touching at the base of the letters.

The Obverse side is too worn to have attributed the exact variety, since it is a small date with distants stars but the other factor needed was to be able to see the denticles and look for a double denticle just left of the date. But since the reverse is only found on Newcomb 6 variety, the coin is that.......

That is a very successful hunt, Golden!! Anytime you can pull some old coins from a Colonial foundation, you couldn't ask for more.

Congrats on your Large Cent! If I am ever able to swing my coil on Colonial soil, I will hope for one of those coins.
