Old general store produces big amounts of silver!!!!

First, let me say that I'll get the pics up eventually... After that, let me say that this was an absolute dream day! I have never had a virgin site, especially one that produced like this! Also, let me say that all these finds were within a 1 and 1/2 hour window!
The finds were all within a tight 8 by 8 area.

1877 seated liberty quarter CC
1877 seated liberty dime
1885 seated liberty dime
1870 canadian dime

? canadian dime (silver, looks to be the same design as the 1870)
1856 seated liberty half dime

? capped bust dime (front is worn almost completely gone, back is still identifiable)
1903 Barber dime (newest coin I found here)

Also found was two indian head pennies 1885 and 1890
Two nickels that are totally unidentifiable
one 2 cent that is unidentifiable. If I did not have a 2 cent already to compare it to, I would never have known what it is.

I will be going back to this site today... the only bad part is the big producing area is in between a power line and a phone line, relatively close to the road... All that put together causes some serious interference on the ol' Explorer... Plus there is poison ivy everywhere! BUT!!!! To me, its worth it!

He's doing well, tired, but well....he called yesterday....he hasn't been out in a while and called to see if I wanted to go do a hunt with him...but my dau was flying in from Guam and I have not seen her in a year...so my dau took precedences

.....would have loved to do a hunt with him....he's got some sweet spots!!!!

He's on a beeper now and is ON CALL all the time....sucks too...my dau had a beeper for a year and was always on call...she recently was able to pass down the beeper to a fellow worker!!! SHE'S FREE OF THE BEEPER!!! (she's a Hospital Corpsman in the best Navy in the WORLD!!!)

But, he's doing fine, just tired and working alot. I do hope to get up with him soon....and I'll get some pics of these coins...but I just can't say when....I hope before our Pipsico Hunt in March...if not, it won't be till then.

No...it's not an April's Joke...wish it was though....

Dave brought the coins to the hunt....and I snapped pics and Dave said I could post them. I think it's very sad how everyone wants PROOF of someone's find...that THEIR WORD is NOT good enough! Just very sad...so here's the pics...enjoy.

He had them in protectors....a couple did not come out that well.....so enjoy...

I don't think it's a matter of wanting proof or not. It's not a matter of distrusting the poster of the thread. Not at all. When we hear about all these amazing coin finds, we feel strung along unless we can get to see them. Seeing satisfies our curiosity. As you know, coin hunts like this only come around once in a great while...

I will say that those are some AMAZING coins (I like the capped bust--even with all its wear :thumbsup:

). Makes me feel good to be able to see the coins. As I read the thread back in JULY of last year, my excitement kept getting higher and higher--until I looked...and there were no photos. $:-\$ That was a big let-down for such a great coin hunt. Thank you so much for posting these. When I saw the photos up, I went back and read the first post in the thread and then came back to look at them.

We have all been waiting for almost a year for these pics, and they didn't disappoint one bit. Am I dreaming?

I still can't believe that I am looking at those general store coins.

I believed cryptodave the entire time, but just wanted to see the damn pics. Heck, when a fellow enthusiast makes great recoveries like that at one site, without even moving 10 feet out of the productive area, forum members love to see the pics of the finds. :thumbsup:

Oh wow! I'd be uncontrollably giddy if I had a day of finds like that!!!

Some folks want pics for proof, but I think most of us just want to see the coins! If my buddy came over to my house and told me about all the cool coins he just found, I ask "where are they, I want to see 'em!". That doesn't mean I doubt the claim, I just want to look at the stuff and be wowed and awed.

If I had a day like that I wouldnt tell you guys a thing until I had photos to post! I know how much of a bummer it is to hear a great story without the visual aids!! Those are some truly fantastic finds and well worth the wait!!
JUST DONT LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!!!!!! Make us wait all that time......whats wrong with you? :wink:
