My father in law wanted to get into detecting so he purchased an Ace 250. I've been pretty busy so I was finally able to get out with him today. It was a little cold and windy but the snow had melted. We detected for around 1 1/2 hours with not many targets. He found a horseshoe and part of a skeleton key. I only found one coin which was a beat up Indian Head. When my father in law was leaving I gave him the IH then decided to stay for another 1/2 hour. The good karma of giving away my earlier coin paid off.
I found another coin that was frozen in a lump of dirt. From the edge it looked like a small very thin coin. When I was driving home I placed the lump in a plastic bag then on top of the car heater vent. Here is what the coin turned out to be...any help IDing would be appreciated. About the size of a dime and holed. There looks like there is a very worn face and some writing but I can't make it out. I think a few letters are CAR. The back is completely worn flat.
Thanks for looking.
