I was headed to a school yesterday to get my MDing fix on, but decided to stop at this house to see if I could get permission to hunt it. The owner now lived next door, and was raised in this neat old house. After a bit of BSing with him, he granted me permission.
I found a few things in my 2 hr hunt, but nothing major. I was digging up memorial pennies at about 6" deep! I scored no silver and only one wheat penny (1953).
I did find a mens ring on the side of the house in the same hole as a dime. I was hoping the ring was gold, but it is gold filled I believe. It is marked "1/20 - 12k GF", whatever that is.
The small pin I found in the front yard.
Also on the side of the house I dug up this neat action figure that I first thought was Evel Knievel. There are wires inside to make him bendable, so my Tesoro picked up the signal.
After looking it over, I'm convinced that this may be a rare action figure of Iron Patch!!! :icon_scratch: ;D
I swear this looks like his avatar. What do you folks think?
Actually, I have no idea who this thing is supposed to be, but my wife wants it out of the house. She says it looks like the devil with that tail. I may hang it from her car mirror as a joke. :tongue3:
Here's a short video of the house.

I'm off to go D with Burdie today. Hopefully he finds his LC.

Doug, I'd give up my 1902 Indian (my ONLY indian I've ever found) for that Iron Patch :D

Cool,

If you want the Iron Patch figure it's yours, and you can keep your IH. My wife made me throw it in the garbage. She says it's "evil looking". :o

That is funny. Years ago when they were doing road construction downtown, I found about 20 nudy tokens. My wife 'made' me throw them out, but I did keep one for memories sake. :D

It is the copper coin, about the size of a quarter, one side is heads, one is tails....complete with images. I have seen the same token posted before. Basically one side is below the waist, the other is above the waist. The site where I found it is the intersection on the lower side of the newer convention (?) buliding, I can't remember what the bldg is called, the newer place where they have plays and stuff, on the south side of the city of Raleigh. I think it is where Western BLVD and Wilminton or S. Saunders meet. Back in the mid 90's they tore that whole intersection up where the stoplight is now. Judging from all of the tokens, I can imagine what was there years ago, or just a cache of someones beloved tokens. One of those weird detecting trips. Bryan

Thanks for the thought. . . that was really nice :)

Doug, you've got to have a place to "stash" (hide) all the crap er ah. . . "vintage relics"
that you find (the stuff that the spouse wants out of the house )

It's gotten to the point now where my wife realizes that I'll never throw out any
of the "treasures" (what she call them) that I bring home. . . so now I can keep
most of the stuff I find IF I start building shadow boxes for it :P

Take care,

Way to go, nice finds. I believe that is Iron Patch.

Nice digs dude, hope you find alot more.

Nice finds there..I would have to agree with some of the post, that the action figure is called Nightcrawler he's one of the X-Men from Marvel comics. :icon_study:

Nice digs, tell the wife she will have to put up with the action figure, after all...doesn't she get first pick of the good stuff?

:sign10: great post and nice finds MM

Hey Doug. I liked the video. It shows the property better than a few pictures would.

I brought my video camera to an 1820's home Don and I detected last week. Same deal - total place was bulldozed and we didn't find squat. :P So, I doubt I will have any footage for you.....

This week the wife and I are vacationing in the Berkshires. I made a few good finds. I am getting backlogged on posts....oh well, the important thing is that I am detecting.

BTW - BS works good to get permission. You are full of it. :tongue3: :icon_jokercolor:

Yeah, I would dump the iron devil also.

Berkshires??? :icon_scratch: Aren't those a type of sandal? How do you vacation in a sandal? :tongue3:
That's not "BS" I use to get permission, it's charm & good looks. ::)
Hope you're enjoying your vacation Bob. With two teen kids I'm sure you and your wife deserve one! ;D
Hope to see some old silver from you soon.

Beautiful Heart Martingale. They are highly collectable and worth a good $100-$300 Dollars. Just look them up on any relic website! Great Find Doug!

Josh,
Here are more pictures. What is it? It looks like it was once hinged at the top like a compact.
-Doug-

Yes, looking at the picture of the back it is clear to see that it isn't a Heart Martingale as first thought from the front view of the heart. The hinges mean that it went to some type of early compact probably late 1800s I would guess. Oh Well :-\ you still found some other nice things to make up for it

Nice toy...and a sweet buckle! Not a bad haul by any means.

Glad to see you're making the finds, as usual! ;-)

Cheers,
B
