I was headed to a school yesterday to get my MDing fix on, but decided to stop at this house to see if I could get permission to hunt it. The owner now lived next door, and was raised in this neat old house. After a bit of BSing with him, he granted me permission.
I found a few things in my 2 hr hunt, but nothing major. I was digging up memorial pennies at about 6" deep! I scored no silver and only one wheat penny (1953).
I did find a mens ring on the side of the house in the same hole as a dime. I was hoping the ring was gold, but it is gold filled I believe. It is marked "1/20 - 12k GF", whatever that is.
The small pin I found in the front yard.
Also on the side of the house I dug up this neat action figure that I first thought was Evel Knievel. There are wires inside to make him bendable, so my Tesoro picked up the signal.
After looking it over, I'm convinced that this may be a rare action figure of Iron Patch!!! :icon_scratch: ;D
I swear this looks like his avatar. What do you folks think?
Actually, I have no idea who this thing is supposed to be, but my wife wants it out of the house. She says it looks like the devil with that tail. I may hang it from her car mirror as a joke. :tongue3:
Here's a short video of the house.

I'm off to go D with Burdie today. Hopefully he finds his LC.

Cool finds!!! your action figure is called Nightcrawler he's one of the X-Men from Marvel comics. I didn't know they even made comic book action figures so its pretty cool. I always liked Sgt Rock,Conan and Thor when I was a kid. HH BIGHEAD

Dad Gam it! I thought I conquered Rusty-Nail man once and for all. Quick Lois,... get me my explorer so I can null him out! 8)

Excellent post MM....and you're right...it IS vintage Iron patch ;D

With that face, I thought it was the mascot for the Duke Blue Devils.

Nightcrawler? Does he have 10 hearts like his namesakes do? As we MDers are inadvertent worm- and grub-murderers, he was definitely at risk.

Nice jewelry!

My avatar is a combination of google image searches of Indian & Super hero. The guy wearing the suit is actually from France (Go figure huh) The Indian... well probably a street somewhere. Yes, it's the Ironpatch image ...scary but tacky redneck detectorist.

Beautiful Heart Martingale. They are highly collectable and worth a good $100-$300 Dollars. Just look them up on any relic website! Great Find Doug!

Keep on with the "smooth talkin" Doug....I can see some good coinage come out of this place. With find's like the ring and the "broach" this place is sure to produce.Great hunt Man.....Sure beat's the tot lot

Cool finds Doug.

Whats that silver dime looking thing?

Have you researched the Heart Martingale?

Rolled gold was made by heating brass and gold together.
Do you still have that link i sent you on rolled gold?
They haven`t used that method since the early 1900`s.

PS don`t let your dog play with IronPatch:)

Josh,
Here are more pictures. What is it? It looks like it was once hinged at the top like a compact.

Bill,
The dime looking thing is one of those darn Grimland toy coins. :(
Isn't "rolled gold" a brand of pretzels? ???

Doug, I'd give up my 1902 Indian (my ONLY indian I've ever found) for that Iron Patch :D

If you want the Iron Patch figure it's yours, and you can keep your IH. My wife made me throw it in the garbage. She says it's "evil looking". :o

Nice finds! The heart is not a martingale--you are correct. Prolly a compact piece.

The ring is cool--and it looks pretty darned old. (I love old gold the most--my favorite gold ring is an old signet ring from the teens.)

And the Iron Patch action figure? PRICELESS.

Regards,

Buckles
