Old ring, been told it’s 24 carats gold

I hear that. The tone is 14K, and the rock looks real. Wonder if the jeweler 'took a couple extra minutes' in the back room 'testing' the stone. The 'ole switcheroo..

always get 2 or 3 other opinions if possible - I have found 22 k with small stones
wedding band I posted is 24k - cant tell by pic but it is out of round because of softness
as far as the stone - I found a ring long ago and was told by first 2 jewelers I took it to - stone was fake
1st place told me the metal was junk also - it was marked inside with a P inside a diamond - was a late 1800s
platinum mark which they did not know
when 2nd place said metal was platinum - but stone was fake - I thought that was weird - ring was obviously old
why would they put fake in platinum ?
I took to a 3rd place and guy had degrees on the wall that he went to college for gemology - he looked at under microscope
and told me it was an old cut diamond and that the guy that cut this diamond - his last cut made the diamond sparkle white
instead of the rainbow we see in most diamonds now a days - the stamp helped him place its making in the late 1800s - early 1900s
this guy sent me to guy that buys old diamonds and I sold the stone for like $750 - that was a like 25 yrs ago
so helps in getting other opinions sometimes - if it was a small questionable ring - but a ring like that - i'd get other opinions

oh - another antique ring I found which I was sure had a diamond (I have a tester now)
and also told was junk stone - turned out stone is white sapphire
not as valuable as a diamond but better than a CZ or glass

Very nice ring. Im not sure it’s 24K

I enlarged the photos for better resolution . The color is off for me . Also 24K is super soft. It should have more deep scratches rather then small non deep surface ones. One impact on the ring tells me that the gold is not soft enough to be 24K. It resisted the impact ver well that’s an indication of a stronger alloy in the mix.

The only 100% true test is the acid test.

Gentlemen, gentlemen: That was a comment to digger 460's post, where he had commented on the lady's picture. Thus it was aimed at the lady's ...uh .... features. Sorry for the mis-understanding. Should have added smiley faces. I assumed readers would see it was addressed to digger 460's post, which was obviously addressing the lady pix.
