I could not believe my eyes when I saw this beauty . to me --it looks to be --a old time for real antique cherokee style 3 strand white hairpipe (bone) bead with red and black glass beads CHOKER NECKLACE OR BRACELET -- strung on deer sinew thread with buckskin spacers and a buckskin tie down tab that had a hole cut in it for tying the thong to. -- the buckskin leather is basically mummified ( it is dried up - sort of like jerky) but is intact still . --I found it in a old "odds and ends type of junk store " that I know of and visit from time to time due to finding great stuff at dirt cheap prices ( i often find very interesting items there) upon seeing this it had to come home with me. JUST HOPE I DIDN'T OVER PAY AT $5  ;D :icon_thumright:

I love hunting junk stores and yard sales..

How can you be sure? These things are highly reproduced and could made to look old (soaked in tea). Sorry but unless your an expert in the field you can't say they are real (of the "period").

Love those thrift store finds...beautiful piece.

It does look authentic, but like Diggum says they were reproduced for years. Good news is you could have the leather tested, or checked by professional they should be able to tell the age of the leather and that will give you an idea. The beads, bone and leather all look good so you never know, I would have it checked or authenticated....Usually costs $20-$25 to have it done...

going over to a local museum that I belong to as a supporting member ** I'm sure its the real thing but --it never hurts to have another person -- a "pro" archy type look at these things -- I have been called in at times by them to check and ID nautical items out for them --so they owe me a favor or two. ;D

Good luck sir, I think the odds are in your favor.....

Looking forward to meeting you in person at the 3rd annual cookout end of april...... :icon_thumright:

looks the real deal :hello2:

just got back from the museum * sadly none of the staff are trained native american archie types --however one of them is 1/2 cherokee and 1/2 black and she was born out west on the the cherokee ressrvation in OK -- she says that she has a near identical choker type item thats been passed down thru her family --same red / black glass bead pattern -- she said the only noticible differance is her "spacer / stoppers" were made of bone where mine is made of deer hide * she also thinks its the real deal .

they did tell me that some real "archies" that know all about native american stuff will be in the area over the weekend due to a PR "public" dig type thing their doing as part od "old town" fernandina's 200th founding ( april 2 1811) -- so I'll see if I can corner one for a 100 % ID
