ONE LESS "SNY BUCKLE"

Well I got out this morning to a new spot and thought I was going to be the first one to dig there but boy was I wrong. Their was dig holes everywhere and the worst thing was they weren't covered and what they found that was junk was laying at the hole. I spent the first hour covering holes and picking up trash. >:( >:( >:( Afterwards I knew if I was going to find anything I'd have to find a spot that this person probally wouldn't hunt so I picked the thickest area with an old barb wire fence running throgh it. Within minutes I dug a bullet right next to where the fence was down so I moved as much of the wire as I could and hunted it hard. I't was well worth the effort because as you can see I found an SNY buckle. It has had a rough life and doesn't have the lead in the back but it's my first and I'm very happy with it. Hope you enjoy the pictures....

Re: ONE LESS "SNY BUCKLE"

Great finds! Beautiful buckle! Were there other states that had similar buckles? I've only seen the CSA, US and now this one. Very cool piece of history...

Re: ONE LESS "SNY BUCKLE"

great find -- hate to hear about the slob --jerks like that cause us to get banned from places

Re: ONE LESS "SNY BUCKLE"

unbelievable find! Just finding bullets is exciting I can't imagine how you felt when you pulled that out of the ground! Great hunting technique and those who left the empty holes and trash deserve to have missed that one!

Nice!!! Karma paid off for you on this hunt, did the right thing and good things turned up under your coil, excellent job all around!!

Re: ONE LESS "SNY BUCKLE"

thats the approach I take at most sites if I feel they have been hunted before.... go close to the trees... most people dont like to dig through roots.... then hit fence lines.. places you have to crawl to get to.... under hedges.... under porches..... high trash spots..... always goodies hiding under trash....... I personally like to hunt where others have been.. they pick up all the clad and trash for me to find the deep goodies..... someone not filling in their holes is pathetic.. they prolly didnt have permission either.. someone who takes the time to ask permission will always fill their holes in because they are on the hook if they dont.. but trespassers rarely are kind to the site... your integrity paid off........ congrats on the finds man... I have hit one .69 caliber drop here in SE ohio and half a confederate sword buckle....... the wreath kind.... Civil War stuff is awesome!

Damn! :o

I gotta find another buckle this year--you guys are catching up! ;D

I think as far as buckles go, an SNY must count for at least TWO "U.S." plates. HECK OF A FIND!
